Confessions of an “Outdoor Geek”
What can I say?
I love outdoor. I’ve loved it from the moment I saw a 14’x48’ billboard being hand-painted in ABC Outdoor’s shop. I was overwhelmed by its sheer size and surprised by how BIG it really was when I was close to it.
That was 20 years ago, and I’m still in love with outdoor.
Riding in a car with an outdoor geek can be an experience. We never get over that “perfect board.”
We don’t soon forget the bulletin with the perfect, unobstructed approach. Then there’s the one that we drive “right into.” Or, the one that’s a “header” and “hits us” right between the eyes. And we can’t forget the cross-traffic reader with the perfect angle viewed while the road curves right into it. No, we don’t forget.
When we see a perfect board and even if we’re alone in the car, we smile, we smack the driving wheel in joy and raise a fist in victory. Words like “beautiful” escape from our lips . . . yes, we rejoice in perfection.
This is our passion. More next time . . .
Out-of-Home Geek regards,
Linda Tooke

2008: The Year Of Outdoor Advertising
Here at Outdoor First, we have decided to make 2008 the year of outdoor advertising. Don’t get us wrong: it was pretty darn hot in 2007, and we’re confident that it will remain a dynamic, powerful and cost effective medium in the future. But there’s just so much happening right now that puts outdoor in the foreground. Traditional radio is in decline, the whole television space is completely up in the air, the role of print is changing and as for the web … who really wants to make Google richer? Meanwhile, on the outdoor side of things, we have exciting new technologies like LED, and the proliferation of affordable options like truckside advertising. Perhaps best of all, you have access to a partner like Outdoor First, who can provide pricing, features and bonuses that will knock your socks off. See why we’re saying 2008 is the year of outdoor? Check out our web site to learn more.
